An intensive program of behavioral treatment approach for very young children with autism was more efficient than the usual programs offered in the community, leading to greater improvements to the results of intelligence tests – intelligence quotient (IQ) – and of verbal and social skills, according to a U.S. study published in the journal Pediatrics.

The program, called Early Start Denver Model, involved 15 hours per week on average response of a therapist over a similar period of intervention parents who had received training. The children also participated in training in language (speech therapy) for 5 hours per week.

Sally Rogers and Geraldine Dawson conducted the study with 48 autistic children aged 18-30 months. The children were split into two groups: one receiving this new approach to the house of a minimum of two hours, five days a week and a second participant to the regular programs offered in specialized facilities that included an average of 9 hours individual intervention and nine hours of group intervention. The evaluators did not know what treatment had been children.

After 2 years of intervention, an increase of 18 IQ points was found in the group that received intensive program at home, compared to 7 points in the group receiving usual services in the community. This increase was primarily language skills (speaking and receiving). Nearly 30% of children in this group were diagnosed as having a milder form of autism, compared to 5% in the other group. “This improvement significantly increases the chances of going into a regular classroom and to make friends,” said Dawson.

The program combines a behavioral approach – called applied behavior analysis (applied behavior analysis) – which is to teach children new behaviors and to change harmful behavior through repetition and practice and techniques based on the relationship presented in the context of play .

Early intervention, the authors say, can take advantage of the plasticity of the young brain and to capitalize on the learning potential of children, thus limiting the harmful effects of autism.

The Association for Independent Medical Education to serve only health professionals and patients (Formindep) filed Monday, December 7, two appeals before the Council of State seeking the annulment of two “recommendations for good medical practice” of Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS). These recommendations focus on the treatment of type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease.

The association said that “contrary to law and rules of the HAS, many experts involved in developing these recommendations have not declared their ties with the interests of pharmaceutical companies. Other experts are so important links with the pharmaceutical companies that their participation in working groups of these recommendations should have been allowed, in particular the chairmen of these groups. ” In both cases, “Either these statements have not been made, or they have not been published,” said Mr. Bernard Fau, lawyer Formindep.

He is Professor Serge Halimi, Head of Endocrinology Diabetology Nutrition CHU de Grenoble, head of the Expert Group of the HAS recommendations on the type 2 diabetes, in 2006, when referred by the Appeal of Formindep, and Professor Florence Pasquier, a neurologist at University Hospital of Lille, who was the head of the group of experts on Alzheimer’s disease in 2008.

The HAS develop recommendations for best practices that “describe the most appropriate care to patients, given the current state of knowledge and medical practices. They “needed to doctors because they are normative and often gospel truth,” said Dr. Philip Foucras, president of Formindep. They serve as reference for the primary and continuing training of physicians, and Social Security (contracts, medical references …)

The obstacles are always present in our lives, are part of our experiences and when we are following a weight loss program, the obstacles may jeopardize the achievement of our goals. Therefore, we must bear in mind some advice to help overcome.

The following story is a clear example of improvement. Long ago a king placed a large rock obstructing a road. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king’s wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the road.

Then came a peasant, who carried a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden on the floor and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he succeeded. As he picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a bag on the floor, right where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway.

Obstacles are like stones that block our mind, but with willpower and the high esteem can you win.

Some of the most common obstacles that can find you to follow your weight management plan are:

Stress makes you eat more. Often we express our feelings through food. If you are nervous (as) we take refuge in food, if we are upset with us or with another person, we console ourselves by giving us a binge. Anxiety often causes us uncontrollable desire to eat. To reduce your stress levels you can:

*Breathe deeply three times and gently release the breath, this will relax you and deliver you from the anxiety of eating. Keep your refrigerator only healthy foods, so if you feel you need a snack you choose those that are healthy and low in calories. Distract your mind with activities other than food, for example: read a book, call your best friend on the phone or a loved one.

* Always sit at the table eating, avoid watching television when you’re eating, because your satiety center is not activated and you will not notice when you’re full (a).

* For other reasons besides losing weight, and improve your health and lifestyle. It has been found to decrease only 5 to 10% of excess weight, improve your bloodstream, your blood pressure and your blood fat levels, to improve your general health is easier to meet your goals.

Lack of time. Many times, we abandon our goals for lack of time, and we postponed our plans to start the diet or exercise. As time passes, we also gain weight, which further hinders us back to our initial plans. We suggest you to find another person who shares your interests, since it is easier to remove the stone in two.

Adopt a positive attitude. Plan what to do if bad weather prevents you perform your exercises. If it is cold you can exercise at home. Practice relaxation techniques like yoga, and do so without leaving home.

Make it realistic long term goals. If you’ve never weighed 110 pounds, do not try now to reach that weight, but you can lose weight healthily, reaching a healthy weight. If you have never done exercise, intend to start with a gentle walk and then increases the frequency and intensity gradually.

Recently natural antidepressant-you talked about some home remedies for depression, which in some way came to be extremely helpful in treating this disease from a perspective of alternative medicine.

As we know, depression is characterized by the form of a blue mood, in which the person has no desire to do virtually nothing, feels sad, melancholic, anxious, and even in many cases very anxious.

The infusion can take in or in capsules. In infusion, simply use one tablespoon per cup of wort, taking it twice daily.

*Ginkgo Biloba: Improves depression, especially in those who take tea or extracts of ginkgo three times daily.
You have more information in the article on the properties of ginkgo biloba.

*Basil: It contains a rich essential oil that is ideal for use in wonderful relaxing baths. Help to rest better, and above all to combat nervous exhaustion, depression itself, fatigue and melancholy. Do not forget to add fresh basil leaves to your salad.

All we care every day to maintain a healthy body and disease free, but what about our minds?, Between stress and fatigue almost never put a lot of our “Mental Health”, so here we let 8 single tips for improvement.

1. Avoid obesity
A study by Paul Thompson, a researcher at the University of California, suggests that obesity may reduce brain size in the elderly, making them more vulnerable to dementia.

2. Read Kafka
Read to Franz Kafka, for example the story of a rural doctor, stimulates our neurons and “encourages us to learn new patterns in the brain, to develop a greater capacity to learn,” according to a recent study by the University of British Columbia and the University of California .

3. Best pair
Being married or living with a partner reduces risk of Alzheimer’s dementia and aging at 50 percent, according to a study by Swiss and Finnish scientists and published in the prestigious British Medical Journal.

4. Train for multitasking
The ability to do several things at once efficiently is “limited by the speed at which our prefrontal cortex processes information,” said Paul E. Duz, a researcher at Vanderbilt University and coauthor of the study. The good news is that this ability can be trained.

5. Turn off the TV
Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have found that watching television before bedtime sleep often leads to debt, increasing the risk of falling sick.

6. Meditate
If we want to develop bigger muscles and stronger bones are hundreds of exercises and dietary supplements that help us achieve our goal. But what happens if we are to increase the size of our brains? Scientists at the University of California (UCLA) showed last spring that it is also possible using meditation.

7. Join a group
A football team, a book club, a rock band … Being part of a social group puedereducir the risk of stroke and dementia, researchers recently showed Australian universities of Exeter and Queensland.

8. Your scribbles
Filling a role is not scribble a waste of time or a distraction. Quite the contrary, promotes mental concentration and stimulates memory, according to a study by the University of Plymouth in the journal Applied Cognitive Psychology.
