The sleep apnea syndrome is a severe, potentially incurable illness, more regular than commonly understood. First stated in 1965, sleep apnea is a respiratory illness characterized by brief interruptions of breathing during sleep. It takes its call from the Greek word, apnea, meaning “lack of breath.”

Division of Sleep Apnea in general :

• Obstructive sleep apnea

A form of sleep apnea, where a physical barrier in the airways. Overweight people are particularly susceptible to this condition, but people with congenital abnormalities of the disease upper respiratory tract are also affected. For example, advanced polyps can obstruct the airway. The obstructive sleep apnea left untreated can cause serious complications, such as treatment, abnormal heart and lung failure.

• Central sleep apnea
