Surgery is the standard treatment for colon cancer

Surgery to remove all parts of the intestine is affected by cancer is a common treatment for all stages of colon cancer. There are three types of operations that are used so they can remove the tumor. They are:

Local excision. This is the type of cancer is only in the early stages is. The doctor simply inserts a tube into the rectum and colon do. It will then be able to reduce colon cancer. If it is a polyp, polyps can be removed this way too. This action is very simple and requires no incision.

Resection. It is used when the colon become quite large. The surgeon makes an incision in the abdomen and removes part of the colon that is affected by cancer. Also removed small pieces of healthy tissue around the affected bowel. Lymph nodes near the colon can be removed to be examined to determine if the cancer has spread. Then the surgeon will sew the two ends of healthy bowel.

Resection and colostomy. Depending on which part of the colon is affected and the amount of the colon is involved, the surgeon can sew the healthy ends together again. In this case, one end of the intestine through a hole in the stomach is presented. This is called a stoma. The patient is in the ostomy bag, because the waste is being distributed through the stoma. This is called a colostomy. Many people are able to lead a normal life after a colostomy.

Radiation to treat cancer of the colon

Irradiation can produce energy X-rays or other forms of radiation used to kill cancer cells or prevent their growth. Radiation can be given externally or internally established in May by needles, seeds or catheters in the area of cancer care. The method of radiation used is determined by the location and size of the tumor.

Chemotherapy for the treatment of colon cancer

The chemotherapeutic agents can be used to kill cancer cells or prevent their spread. Chemotherapy can be injected intravenously or orally as tablets. You may be suffering from cancer, such as the abdomen or injected directly into the spine of the environment.

All these treatments can be used alone or in combination with others. Many patients, the operation of an affected part is removed from the colon chemotherapy or radiation to destroy tumor cells in each trip.

Cancer can be cured if detected early enough, and content. Stay tuned to your body and regular inspections.

Although all options have been taken to ensure that all information is accurate and correct at time of writing, not used to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Please always consult your physician or a specialist if they are affected in any way for your health.
